Coaching

Specialized Honors academic coaching is available to each Honors student as part of the Vol Success Team initiative. Honors Vols who participate in Honors coaching their first year are 87 percent more likely to be successful in Honors, so we encourage our scholars to visit their coach early and often!

Honors coaches encourage the pursuit of academic goals and assist students in the examination of their individual strengths. They facilitate discussions about gaining the most from the Honors curriculum and resources at UT to produce successful and conscientious scholars.

Your questions and motivations will form the heart of our coaching appointments. We will discuss your goals as an Honors student at UT, how to get connected to resources on campus and in the community, and most importantly, how you can leverage your individual strengths to achieve success.

Honors coaching is available in one-to-one meetings, group coaching settings, and workshops throughout the year. Early and intentional planning and selection of such activities is especially useful for students pursuing competitive internships, national scholarships and fellowships, or a top-tier graduate or professional program in their area of specialization. Once we get to know you, we tailor recommendations, next-steps, referrals, and opportunities.

“I just want to say that my Honors Coach has been one of the most supportive people in my experience
at UT. She was always so helpful and it really made my day when I got to meet with her. She always believed in
me and was a major part in helping me be successful this semester.”
