Specialized honors advising is available to each honors student in addition to advising offered by their college and departments required prior to registration. As holistic advisors, honors advising can cover a variety of subjects that extend beyond typical academic advising. We regularly discuss with students about their adjustment to UT, long-term personal and professional goals and dreams, student involvement (e.g. undergraduate research, leadership, internship, etc.), potential career or graduate school paths, and overall student well-being.
Honors advising appointments provide a great opportunity for students to explore study abroad and other international opportunities, the myriad of research and creative projects available to pursue on and off campus, and the types of leadership or community service opportunities that fit your vision. Early and intentional planning and selection of such activities is especially useful for students pursuing competitive internships, national scholarships and fellowships, or a top-tier graduate or professional program in their area of specialization. Once we get to know you, we tailor recommendations, next-steps, referrals, and opportunities.
