Zana Operta

Political Science

Zana Operta, a political science major, will explore the current developing political system in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the role that each of the three major ethnic groups plays in that system for her honors thesis.  Zana has already completed an internship with United States Senator Lamar Alexander and hopes to pursue further internship opportunities in Nashville or Washington D.C.

On campus, Zana is involved in Freshman Council, the Women's Coordinating Council, Order of Omega, and her sorority, Delta Gamma, of which she serves as the director of events. Zana relished the Haslam Scholars Program study abroad experience to China because it allowed her to see firsthand such magnificent cultural and historical relics as the Great Wall and Wild Goose Pagoda.  The trip also allowed her to gain much insight into the political and economic systems in China through interactions with Tsinghua University professors and students.
