College Scholars—Middle Eastern Studies

Joshua Brown is a newly admitted College Scholar with a designed program of “Geo-Politics, Religion, and the State: Human Disaster and Displacement.” He is focusing on the interplay of human rights, religion, politics, economics, and a multiplicity of factors that impact and shape the modern Middle East and North Africa. He will be studying abroad in Amman, Jordan this summer while pursuing intensive Modern Standard Arabic and colloquial Jordanian Arabic. He hopes to capitalize on both the College Scholars Program and the Haslam Scholars Program during his time in undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville so that he may progress to graduate school in his pursuit of a masters in International Relations with an emphasis on the Middle East and North Africa.
