Hunter Tipton majors in Microbiology and has aspirations to attend medical school, after which he is considering a career in radiology. While at the University of Tennessee, Hunter has served as the Corporate Contacts Coordinator on the United Residence Hall Council board and is currently helping to organize a 5K road race for Redeeming Hope Ministries, which helps the homeless population of Knoxville.
Hunter gained many things from his participation in the Haslam Scholars Program trip to China, including a better understanding of how the futures of China and the United States are vastly interconnected and an immense appreciation for how fortunate he has been to be given the opportunity to pursue such a high-level academic education and obtain this kind of world experience. He says, "In order to move forward in the future, we must do more than learn. We must take our talents and shape them so that we are contributors to a better society."
