Ethan Cansler is currently ranked as a senior in the College of Engineering's Aerospace Engineering program, though he still has two more years of coursework to complete. After graduating Ethan plans to pursue a master's degree in Aerospace Engineering before seeking employment at a well-established company such as Boeing or Lockheed-Martin.
Presently, Ethan is continuing his internship in the Neutron Facilities Development Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Spallation Neutron Source. Ethan greatly values the Haslam Scholar Program's study abroad experience to China, saying, "The trip broadened the way that I view international relations and economics, and took me to a part of the world and a culture which I would never have otherwise visited." For his honors thesis, Ethan plans to conduct historical research in the United Kingdom. His tentative plan is to research the historical development of the institution of the public house and its effect on British culture.
Outside of school, Ethan is a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church and enjoys cooking, woodworking, hiking, travel, and photography.
