Brooke Watson graduated summa cum laude with an honors degree in Microbiology in 2013. Her honors thesis under Dr. Hillary Fouts examined cultural predictors of breastfeeding practices in Kenya. Following graduation, she moved to Australia where she researched brain microarchitecture of sleep apnea patients at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. Upon her return to the US, she established impact and reporting metrics and managed fundraising and media outreach as the Community Engagement Fellow for Sunfarmer, a nonprofit that brings solar energy to rural hospitals in Nepal. She also worked for the global health consulting firm Rabin Martin researching health policy in the US and abroad.
In September 2015, she moved to London to pursue a Masters degree in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She now works as a research scientist at EcoHealth Alliance.
