The Honors Leadership Program Living & Learning Community provides a residential environment that fosters the Honors Leadership Program’s mission of individual leadership development through practical application and experiences. By living and working with a community of like-minded peers, LLC members are given an environment to grow, learn, and thrive.
The LLC allows each HLP cohort to form an identity and purpose. By living together during the first year, HLP students establish a collaborative culture and encourage each other to become active participants within the program and the greater Volunteer community.
To drive involvement in the LLC, first-year cohorts elect an LLC Advisory Board that works directly with Honors and Scholars staff to organize events catered to the needs of the cohort. This board represents the cohort in choosing and planning various engagement opportunities such as movie nights, service days, and study sessions.
Leadership Legacy Series
During the first year of Honors Leadership, the Leadership Legacy Series (LLS) requirement is fulfilled in conjunction with the Living and Learning Community. Students attend workshops near their residence hall and have the opportunity to interact with the program director Meghan Perez. A foundational aspect of the program, Ms. Perez facilitates the first-year LLS to develop personal relationships with students who are new to the program while developing their understanding of their leadership identity.
All first-year students in the Honors Leadership Program must be members of the LLC. All LLC students will participate in a shared class. LLC members must also remain in good standing within the Honors Leadership Program to remain in the LLC.
