Honors Community

Morrill HallChancellor's Honors Program (CHP) students report that one of the most beneficial and rewarding honors experiences is participation in the Honors Community. The Honors Community is centered in Morrill Hall with many first-year and returning students choosing to live among their peers on one of the four honors-designated floors.  However, membership in the Honors Community is open to all CHP students regardless of residence through submission of a learning community application.

From bi-weekly academic events to whitewater rafting trips and late night study sessions, the honors community is a place to grow academically and socially.  Resident Assistants (RAs) keep students up to date not only with what is happening on campus, but also with the latest news from the Chancellor's Honors Program. Visits made by honors administration and faculty help to create close interpersonal relationships.

First-year students must submit their housing contract to University Housing for any available residence hall before being moved into the Honors Learning Community upon request after acceptance into the Chancellor's Honors Program. If you have requested a roommate and are interested in the honors community, your requested roommate must also have been accepted into the honors program and the honors community in order to be placed together. Contact the Chancellor's Honors Program at honors@utk.edu or (865) 974-7875 for more information.

For further details and information on campus housing or learning communities, see University Housing.
