Transfer Student Admission

The Chancellor’s Honors Program annually admits students who have transferred to UT from other accredited institutions of higher learning.

Students admitted via transfer admission must meet the same program requirements as their peers admitted during freshman admissions.  The only exceptions are Chancellor’s Honors First-Year Seminar (UH 100) and English 118, which are waived for students who are awarded transfer admissions.  Applications from students who have undertaken and excelled in honors courses or course work parallel to UH 100 are given preference.

Transfer Students
Spring matriculation to UT - Submit application by December 1
Fall matriculation to UT - Submit application by May 1

To apply for the Chancellor's Honors Program, transfer students must be accepted to the University of Tennessee and submit an application to the CHP for review.

Transfer students must submit an application by December 1 if planning to attend UT in the spring or by May 1 if transferring to UT in the fall semester.

When selecting transfer students for membership in the CHP, consideration will be given to the student's previous academic work and ability to complete the requirements of the CHP. Transfer student status in the program will be announced via letter to each applicant.

Transfer Students with Associate Degree
Submit application by May 1

To be eligible to apply, students must be transfer students who have graduated with an Associate Degree from an honors program at an accredited institution of higher learning, such as from one of Tennessee's excellent community colleges.

Qualified applicants must submit a completed Chancellor's Honors Program application by May 1.

Please review all requirements as listed on the application form. Honors students accepted through this process will receive full credit for the first two years of Chancellor's Honors Program graduation requirements.
