Reminders for First-Year Students

Congratulations on being accepted to the the 2008 entering class of the Chancellor's Honors Program, the most selective in the university's history. Please read below to make sure you complete all the necessary steps to reserve your place in the program and enjoy all the privileges associated with the CHP.

Return your Chancellor's Honors Program Contract

Upon acceptance to the CHP, you were sent an contract with your acceptance letter. Students who do not return their contracts with a postmark by May 1, 2008, forfeit their place in the program.

Submit your UT Enrollment Confirmation and Deposit

You can return the paper form you received with your admission packet to the University of Tennessee or you can click here to confirm your enrollment online (preferred method). The enrollment deposit is $150, and you must submit the online form by midnight on May 1, 2008. (A May 1, 2008, postmark is required for paper confirmations).

Apply to live in the Honors Community

Consider applying to live in the Honors Community.  University Housing sets aside two residence hall floors for CHP women and two floors for CHP men in Morrill Hall.  University Housing issues learning community applications when they mail housing contracts; placements in Morrill Hall will be made at a later date.

University Housing contracts must be postmarked no later than April 4, 2008. For questions concerning the learning communities, contact University Housing at 865-974-3411.

Sign up for New Student Orientation

The New Student Orientation system opens on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. Although orientation is filled on a first-come, first-served basis, reserved seats for Chancellor's Honors students ensures that most are able to attend the first week of orientation. The Chancellor’s Honors Program staff will be on-hand to answer questions. Click here to visit the Student Orientation web site.

Register for the appropriate honors courses

When you choose your courses for fall 2008, be aware that all first-year Chancellor’s Honors students must enroll in a section of the Chancellor’s Honors First-Year Seminar (UH 100, 1-credit hour), and most will also enroll in Honors: English Composition (ENG 118, 3-credit hours).

The UH 100 course descriptions will be posted on our web site as they become available.
