Mark Remec

Biophysics

Biography

During his time at UT, Mark Remec split his time between research, under Dr. Elias Fernandez of the BCMB Department, and coursework in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biochemistry. He was also involved with the Undergraduate Research Students' Association, as co-president, and studied both French and German.

Mark is currently working towards his goal of becoming faculty at a research university by pursuing a Ph.D. in the Biophysics Graduate Group at UC Berkeley. Ultimately, he hopes to contribute in a significant way to our understanding of basic biophysics and biochemistry and apply this knowledge to improve upon our ability to deal with the myriad diseases that currently plague human well-being. Mark firmly believes that research can enhance our society not only by the discoveries we make, but by the character that is built through the research enterprise. To that end, he intends to be a life-long advocate of expanding awareness and opportunities for research and engagement for all ages and backgrounds.
