Biography

Katie Lou Rogers is currently pursuing a biomedical engineering major and materials science engineering minor.  She works in a materials science engineering lab that focuses on the application of nanogels toward medical research.  Over the summer of 2014, she received an Undergraduate Research Internship (URI) from UT’s Office of Research and spent her internship learning about atomic force microscopy (AFM) at the University of Edinburgh.  On campus, Katie is actively involved in TEDxUTK as a co-organizer and hopes to establish a TEDxUTK legacy.  She is a member of Pursuit: The Journal of Undergraduate Research, the Undergraduate Research Student Association, and the Undergraduate Research Advisory Committee.  She also works with RISER to recruit honors females into engineering research and with the Office of National Scholarships & Fellowships to promote scholarship/fellowship opportunities on campus.
