Biography

Desiree Ancar was an anthropology major with a pre-medicine concentration and public health interest. She participated in the National Research Foundation-sponsored Environmental Health Research Experience Program at the University of Washington, Seattle, and served the campus and community through ClinicVols, the Boys and Girls Club, the Archaeology & Anthropology Association, and Teach for America.

After graduating, Desiree taught kindergarten at Cane Ridge Elementary for two years with Teach for America Greater Nashville. She is currently a second-year medical student at Robert Larner M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and serves as the co-leader of the Student National Medical Association and Palliative Care Student Interest Group. Desiree is also a student representative on the board of admissions and volunteers regularly with the hospital.
