Specialized Honors Programs
![]()
In addition to the university-wide Chancellor’s Honors & Haslam Scholars Programs, UT offers a growing number of honors programs designed to meet the specialized needs of students across a wide variety of disciplines and interests.
Typically, admission to these highly selective programs occurs in the student’s sophomore or junior year. In most cases, students need not be members of the Chancellor’s Honors Program in order to earn admission to a college or departmental honors program.
Multiple honors program memberships are encouraged and are commonplace. For example, a student could be a Chancellor’s Honors student as well as a College Scholar and Baker Scholar, or a student could be a member of the Department of History Honors Program and a Baker Scholar, but not a member of the Chancellor’s Honors Program.
Coordination for UT’s many and diverse honors programs is facilitated by the Honors Steering Committee.
