Overview
- High school seniors must request or be invited to participate in an initial interview with the director of the Chancellor’s Honors & Haslam Scholars Programs.
- Finalists will then be invited to interview with a selection committee during a weekend in March.
- Haslam Scholars will be named.
Key dates for the 2008-2009 selection process are as follow.
May 15, 2008 - October 31, 2008
Open Initial Interviews
- Any high school senior interested in the Haslam Scholars Program may schedule an appointment for an initial interview on or before October 31. Beginning November 1, however, initial interviews will be made by invitation only.
- Before making an appointment, students should fill out an information sheet and may also choose to submit a resume via e-mail, fax, or mail (see our contact information to the right).
- You must download Adobe Reader in order to view the information sheet.
- If you have problems viewing or completing the information sheet, contact Lori Johnson at lori@utk.edu.
- After completing the information sheet, students should telephone the Haslam Scholars Program office to schedule an appointment.
November 1, 2008
Deadline for Submitting Application to the Chancellor’s Honors Program
- Complete UT Admissions Application.
- Complete the 2009 Entering Freshman Academic Scholarship Application.
- Students must apply for the Chancellor's Honors & Haslam Scholars Programs using the checkbox provided on the 2009 Entering Freshman Academic Scholarship Application.
November 1, 2008 - January 16, 2009
Initial Interviews by Invitation Only
- Invitations for initial interviews will be extended to selected students who submit their UT Admissions Application and their Entering Freshman Academic Scholarship Application by November 1.
- Criteria for selection include evidence of academic excellence, leadership and service, and special talents.
March 6-7, 2009
Campus Interview Weekend
- Thirty finalists are invited to campus to interview with members of the Academic Selection Committee.
- Accommodations, meals, and materials will be provided for finalists.
- A program for the parents/guardians of finalists will be available.
