Jill Pierce, a freshman in Physics and a Chancellor's Scholarship recipient, not only excels with her academics, but also in athletics as a member of the UT Diving Team.

Jill Prepares to dive at an AAU competition.

Jill started diving when she was ten years old and, in the process, has gone to the Tennessee State Championships all four years of her high school career. Not only was she able to compete, but she also won the state championship her freshman and sophomore years. In 2003, she went to Nationals in California, and the past two years she has gone to East Nationals at Harvard and in Washington D.C.

Now that she is on the UT Diving Team, she has set her goals high, and will most certainly achieve them. Jill wants to learn platform dives and qualify for NCAA Zones and hopefully NCAA Championships.

Jill is majoring in Physics with an intent to go onto medical school. She plans to specialize in humanistic medicine, which is similar to holistic medicine that incorporates the entire aspect of a person (psychological, emotional, and physical) to treat a condition. She has always thought that physics was fascinating, so she chose that major as her path for a medical career.

On a trip to Italy, Jill tries her best to straighten the Tower of Pisa.

Besides studying hard and having three diving practices a day, Jill still finds time to spend time with her family and friends and to give back to her community. Jill is also in the Honors Learning Community as well as the College Democrats. She plans on studying abroad in the future in Costa Rica as well as in Europe. This Lady Vol is definitely on a path for success.
