Chancellor's Honors & Haslam Scholars Programs

First Annual Honors Symposium

Mark your calendars for Monday, March 22, 2010 and join us at the Howard Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy for the First Annual Honors Symposium. U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander will host a breakfast and speak on "Research and the Public Good," Interim UT President Jan Simek will lead a discussion on "The University in Crisis," noted author and journalist Richard Rodriguez will speak on "Late Lessons of a Scholarship Boy," and twenty-five University of Tennessee honors students will present their original research. Honors students attend Knoxville Opera

February 12, 2010 – The Chancellor’s Honors Program hosted 200 University of Tennessee students, staff, and faculty members at Friday's performance of Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at the Knoxville Opera. The story of star-crossed lovers in Scotland, Lucia was a great way to kick off Valentine's Day weekend.

ORNL Welcomes "UT Day at the Lab"

January 12, 2010 – Forty CHP students explored internship opportunities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory during "UT Day at the Lab." ORNL features the #1 and #3 world's fastest super computers, the $1.4 billion Spallation Neutron Source, and the historic Graphite Reactor. Students toured these and other sites, and met with UT alumni who now work full-time at our premiere national lab.

Several CHP students that studied abroad kept a blog or an online photo album while they were overseas. The Chancellor’s Honors & Haslam Scholars Programs are pleased to announce that our staff is growing through the addition of three faculty members to our ranks. The Faculty Fellows will assist us in providing resources and programming including those related to undergraduate research, the honors curriculum, and the Haslam Scholars Program. Masquerade Ball 2009
