Eligibility
All honors students in good standing who are initiating a Honors Thesis Project (or approved equivalent). Members in good standing of ALL recognized UT honors programs are eligible.
Please note that award amounts are reported to the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships and may count toward the student's annual total award cap.

Scope
Fundable expenses include all academically necessary costs. Expenses may be
- directly related to the undertaking of the Honors Thesis Project (e.g., laboratory equipment or supplies, computer software,artistic supplies or equipment, books or periodicals not available through normal library sources, travel related to field work, etc.)
and/or,
- indirectly related to the undertaking of the Honors Thesis Project but necessary to facilitate its completion (e.g., room-&-board necessary to facilitate on-campus scholarly activity during the summer semester).
Please note that travel will be supported only when such travel is essential to the project. Grants may not be used for payments to individuals, such as research assistants or respondents.
Requirements
- Applicants must submit an Application Form for Research Grant, with an attached project description and budget.
- Applicants must present their Honors Thesis Project at UT's Annual Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement, or at an academic conference appropriate to the student's field of study.
- All equipment or non-expended supplies purchased under this program must be returned to the department of the Faculty Project Advisor. Such equipment will become the property of that department or unit at the conclusion of the project.
- Awards are transferred to the department of the Faculty Project Advisor and generally must be used by the end of the academic fiscal year in which they are awarded.

$500-$2,500
Selection
The CHP Faculty Policy & Curriculum Committee and two student members will review grant applications and determine awardees and funding amounts. Awards are to be made on a competitive basis. Partial funding is allowed. Grantees will be publicly announced. Students may combine funds from a variety of sources; they need only list these sources or potential sources as part of their grant application.
