Honors Advising
![]()
In addition to the regular academic advising that all UT students receive within their colleges, students in the Chancellor’s Honors Program have the advantage of honors advising. CHP students can meet with a staff or peer advisor to discuss their honors curriculum, course options, and post-graduate plans. Though honors advising does not replace the academic advising students receive in their colleges, CHP students will benefit from the experience of the Honors Peer Advisors, all of whom are upperclasspersons within the CHP and have first-hand advice about how to fulfill honors requirements alongside major requirements.
In their first two years within the program, all CHP students must meet with an advisor in the CHP at least once per year, though CHP students at all levels are welcome to receive honors advising as often as they need. We recommend that first-year students receive honors advising in the fall semester, and sophomores in the spring semester. Though it is not required, CHP upperclasspersons often find it helpful to meet to discuss honors-by-contract and senior project plans.
The CHP Honors Peer Advisors will hold weekly office hours during the major part of each semester. Honors Peer Advisors are designated by their college, but any CHP student is welcome to meet with any HPA. CHP students must sign-up through Blackboard to meet with an HPA. In Fall 2009, the CHP Honors Peer Advisors will be taking appointments September 15th-November 20th.
