Graduation

Students who meet university as well as Chancellor’s Honors Program graduation requirements receive a distinctive Chancellor’s Honors Program-designated University of Tennessee diploma as well as a gold-plated, individually engraved Honors Key, the last a gift from the Chancellor’s Honors Program meant as a memento in recognition of the student’s exceptional academic achievement and valued leadership.
Both fall and spring semester graduates and their guests attend the annual Chancellor’s Honors Program Graduation Brunch, which is held in May. The Graduation Brunch features the presentation of Honors Keys, Remarks from Provost Robert Holub, a Student Retrospective, and a Keynote Address.
At the beginning of each fall and spring semester, the Chancellor’s Honors Program surveys students in order to identify those anticipating graduation at the conclusion of the semester. This information is forwarded to the Office of the Registrar and is essential for the proper ordering of diplomas and engraving of Honors Keys. Though the Chancellor's Honors Program assists students with this process, it is the student's responsibility to inform the Chancellor's Honors Program and the Office of the Registrar of their anticipated graduation date and to meet all deadlines set forth by university policy.
At the same time, the Chancellor’s Honors Program accepts reservations for the Graduation Brunch, which is held during May’s commencement exercises. Since diplomas per se are not awarded, the Graduation Brunch is not a commencement exercise. Instead, it is celebration of the Chancellor’s Honors Program’s community of scholars and an opportunity to recognize individual student achievement.
