Associate Director
![]()
In October 2005, Kathryn joined the Chancellor’s Honors Program as Associate Director. However, she has been teaching for The University of Tennessee’s Department of History for five years. As a historian who specializes in the Middle Ages, she teaches various courses on Medieval France, Medieval Monasticism and Western Civilization. She is also the current Vice-President of Knoxville’s Chapter of the American Institute of Archeology. She attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota as an undergraduate and the University of Toronto for graduate school.
One special goal for Kathryn is to encourage more students at The University of Tennessee to study abroad. In 2004, she led the university’s Normandy Scholars to France to study the history of Normandy from the Middle Ages through WW II. For her own research, she uses many archives located in northern France, and has spent much time in France and Greece working at medieval archeological sites.
