Joel Cummings
Honors Council Treasurer
Joel Cummings, Treasurer of the Honors Council, is a junior at the University of Tennessee and is originally from Ripley, TN. Joel was salutatorian at Ripley High School, where he was also a member of the school basketball, track, tennis and soccer teams. He served as his SGA treasurer and the marching band’s field commander. In his senior year he was elected the National Beta Club Secretary and Mr. RHS.
At UT, Joel is studying English Literature, with a minor in business. While at UT Joel has become a member of UT’s Spirit Squad and served as the school’s mascot “The Volunteer”. In his spare time he works for the National Beta Club as a motivational speaker and has addressed tens of thousands of teens.
Joel is committed to the promotion of the Chancellor’s Honors Program. He participates in UT’s Tumbling Club and serves on the Honors Events Committee. After graduation Joel looks forward to the opportunities that speaking publicly will offer him.
