Mission Statement

The mission of the Chancellor’s Honors Program is to contribute to excellence in undergraduate education by enriching and enhancing the degree programs of selected undergraduate students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Students are selected on the basis of meritorious application, wherein evidence of academic achievement and leadership potential are paramount.

Although highly selective, Chancellor’s Honors Program members stand neither apart from nor above their UT undergraduate colleagues. In the spirit of the University’s land-grant flagship status, the Program encourages excellence but discourages elitism.

The Chancellor’s Honors Program anchors the University of Tennessee’s unique decentralized system of honors programs and opportunities. As such, Chancellor’s Honors students are also often members of the University’s many college and department sponsored honors programs and University-recognized honors societies.
